Paralegal Requirements:
Formerly Incarcerated

Prior Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree;

Demonstrated Leadership;

Demonstrated Interest in the Law and/or studying to be a Paralegal;

Admissions Application Materials: Must complete paper application, data release waivers, paralegal admissions request, and essay questions (included with this form).

Financial Aid: Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). At a later date, NHCC will provide assistance with the FAFSA application for students who are accepted in the Paralegal Program.

Juris Doctorate / LSAT Exam Requirements

4-Years Bachelor’s Degree; Law Schools cannot admit a student who does not meet this requirement, therefore we cannot pay for an LSAT exam for anyone who does not meet this requirement. To qualify, you will need to have graduated from a Bachelor’s Degree program by June of 2023 (before prospective start of Fall 2023 semester).

Personal Statement; To apply to law school, one must write a personal statement essay. This essay should encompass why you are interested in the law, your personal journey to this opportunity, and why Mitchell Hamline should admit you as a student into their incoming class. TLR is requesting you provide a rough draft of this statement.

Disciplinary Requirements: No disciplinary issues or infractions within the DOC within the past 6 months. Any disciplinary issues that arise following your acceptance into the Prison to Law Pipeline could result in your removal from the program.
